Ayia Napa was, until the early 1970's, a fishing resort, but has been reborn into a tourist attraction now famed for its Blue Flag sandy beaches, watersports and nightlife.
Most beaches cater for the young, free and single visitor, but Nissi beach is somewhat quieter and well suited for the family or older tourist, who is truly aspiring to relax.
Restaurants are very cosmopolitan, and can be found lining the streets between The Square and the harbour. Traditional eateries are available too.
